The main goal of “EICONA” is the improvement of legume plant performance and productivity under challenging environments, by the selection and application of specific mutualistic microbial consortia.
The scientific predictions that Earth’s global average temperature will rise make this research timely and necessary. Understanding and optimizing the composition and activity of microbial consortia that interact with plants and applying this knowledge to agricultural practice is a key factor in improving plants’ capacity to cope with and adapt to climate change.
